Since 1999, the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame has been preserving and celebrating the rich legacy of women’s basketball. Now, they’ve added a new, and delicious, way to honor the sport: a community cookbook filled with recipes from Hall of Fame inductees, board members, interns, volunteers, and fans.
About the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame
Located in Knoxville, Tennessee, the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame is the only facility in the world dedicated to all levels of women’s basketball - past, present, and future. The 35,000-square-foot museum not only honors iconic players, coaches, and contributors but also inspires the next generation of athletes through exhibits, memorabilia, and its annual induction ceremony held each June.
A Cookbook Born from Connection
The idea for the cookbook was simple yet powerful: use food to tell the story of women’s basketball and bring people together around a shared love of the game. Whether you’re a WNBA legend or a new fan, this cookbook is a reminder that the bonds formed through basketball extend far beyond the court—and sometimes, right into the kitchen.
How the Cookbook Came Together
Originally started in 2017, the cookbook project was put on hold as things got busy at the Hall. When an intern joined the team in Fall 2024, the project was reignited with new energy. What began with a handful of recipes soon turned into a full-fledged community effort.
Submissions were collected from Hall of Fame inductees, board members, current and former interns, employees, volunteers, and eventually fans from across the country. As the recipes rolled in, the team designed the layout, organized contributions, created the front and back cover, and carefully matched images with each dish.
The final product is more than just a cookbook—it’s a tribute to the people who have built and supported the women’s basketball community through the years.
A Celebration of Legacy and Love for the Game
The Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame cookbook is a heartfelt blend of tradition, teamwork, and timeless recipes. It’s a celebration of the game’s impact on lives everywhere, and a reminder that both basketball and food have the power to connect us all.
Whether you’re part of a hospital, company, or nonprofit, a cookbook is a meaningful way to bring your team together.
